Viudavila is a nation-wide family business founded in 1899. From day one we have specialized in serving the construction industry, supplying our clients with every kind of machinery, safety and protection equipment, tools and any other item needed in construction.

The demands of today’s market in terms of security and the constant innovation in machinery and tools etc, combined with the ever-changing needs of our clients means that Viudavila is in a state of constant evolution. We carry with us years of experience, having been present in the last three centuries during which time we have become regarded as a pioneer within the construction industry.

Our success has been recognized in the countless number of awards that we have received over the years, from the ‘Medal of International Character’ in 1906 in the nationally sponsored ‘Mining and Hydraulic Exhibition of Catalonia and The Balearics’ to ‘The President Francesc Macià Plaque’ presented by the Regional Government of Catalonia in 2000.

Viudavila’s first physical document dates from April 8^th, 1899. Its founder D.  Wenceslao Vila I Pascual led the company until his death in 1922, passing control to his widow Dña. Ignacia Batista, giving the company its name ‘WidowVila’. Ignacia Batista then gave their children, Don Ernesto, Dona Francisca, Wenceslao Don Juan Jose Vila control of Viudavila, which later became a public limited company in 1974. At present the company belongs to D. Javier Vila, son of D. Juan Jose Vila.

Since its foundation more than a hundred years ago, Viudavila has been and continues to be present in all major building works within Spain. The most emblematic examples have been at a national level, including the 1929 World Fair in Barcelona, the Seville and Zaragoza Expos, the Barcelona Olympics of 1992 and the ongoing work on Spain’s new high-speed train network.

In the year 2000, to mark the occasion of its centenary, Viudavila was awarded the Francesc Macià Medal by the Regional Government of Catalonia in recognition of its 100 years in business and its contribution to economic growth.
